In this painting, the position of traditional 27 Nakshatras of Hindu astronomy (first mentioned in Atharvaveda) is superimposed on zodiac signs according to Western astronomy.
As such, this is the earliest attempt to reconcile Hindu knowledge of universe with that of the west.
When European Jesuits were still preaching that Hindu culture is nothing but superstition and idolatry which should be annihilated at its root, Hindus made a genuine attempt to reconcile and understand the scientific knowledge of another civilization.
It is also not surprising that the astronomical map comes from a Hindu kingdom and not from any of the domains ruled by Mughals or other Muslim Nawabs
This was at a time when some regions of India just started getting colonized by Britain. Then everything went south
