Baul is a guru disciple Parampara
It takes many, many years of study with a Guru, learning sanskrit, all shastra, the songs, under Guru.. Lineage is Parampara is traditon... Using the term LINEAGE means there is a long list of Parampara, not a 10- 20 year history.. Today is Kali Yuga... what is unreal is real and what is real is somehow being used as Real... There is nothing wrong with calling yourself a Western Baul... but have respect for the Tradition.. do not water down and promote untruths..
A lineage Baul should be the only person speaking for the Bauls of Bengal, and others that do should refer back to the lineage, tell the stories according to the history of the Bauls, not arbitrarily leaving out the historical names of the Bauls.. Eveybody says Rabinranath Tagore was inspired by Baul but what Baul??
He was inspired and best friends with Nabani Das Khyappa Baul... Nabani Das Baul taught at Tagore's university. He has been left out of the story. Purna Das Baul is the pioneer of Baul who brought Baul to the world. No where in any Baul stories do you see this written.
By the way, Babu does care, he is not jealous, I am making the distinctions.. Why because it is Kali Yuga.. and today too many untruths about what Baul is are being promoted as truths.. I have studied eastern, western philosophy for 30 to 40 years.. and I have seen what people are doing, how some are using the ancient oral lineages and making a mockery... Babu is a Baul he does not care.
I Trishula Das care.. It is about preserving an ancient tradition, that is almost extinct ..this type of watering down has to stop.
Why why why, would I say this, because there has been so many writing, wrong about Baul. There has been so much misinformation.

yes perhaps people want something of their own, to make money, to have something to teach people. To start groups under people who have not even trained under a Baul Guru..
